A step-by-step guide to vinyl aftercare

Cleaning & Maintenance Aftercare

The most important aspect of protecting your vehicle’s paintwork is keeping it clean. The same holds true for vinyl graphics. You can extend the life of your finished vehicle wrap or graphics by following the simple steps outlined below. Following these guidelines will ensure that your vehicle wrap or graphics will last beyond their lifecycle, lowering costs and preserving your brand image.

TO HELP PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE GRAPHICS, FOLLOW THESE SEVEN SIMPLE STEPS…

1. Wash Regularly

It’s advisable to wash your car whenever it seems dirty. Try to keep the vehicle clean more frequently because contaminants that are left on the vehicle may be more challenging to remove while cleaning.

2. Vehicle Washes

Vehicle graphics and wraps should always be washed by hand.
Refrain from bringing your car into a brush-style car wash. This kind of car washing is not advised because it can abrade the film and cause the edges to lift or chip. In addition, they can also dull the vinyl’s appearance.

3. Power Washing

We strongly advise against using a power washer to wash your vehicle. This is the most common cause of damage to vehicle graphics.

4. Removing Stubborn Dirt

Abrasive tools or rough scrubbing should be avoided as they will scratch the film. When removing difficult-to-remove dirt, such as bug splatter, bird droppings, and tree sap, soften it first by soaking it in hot, soapy water for a few minutes, then thoroughly rinsing and drying it.

5. Fuel Spills

If you spill any fuel onto the vehicle, wipe it off immediately to avoid degrading the vinyl and adhesive.

6. Polish & Wax

A high-quality vehicle wax can be used to polish and wax the majority of vinyl wraps and graphics. Test the wax first in a discreet area before use, though. If polish or wax is used, we assume no responsibility for any abrasion, stripping, etc. Do not use any abrasive polishes or cutting compounds.

7. Covering Your Vehicle

Vinyl graphics, like regular vehicle paint, can deteriorate over time from exposure to the sun and airborne pollutants, especially on horizontal surfaces like the bonnet, boot lid, and roof. Keeping it in a shaded parking spot, or covering your vehicle will prolong the vinyl’s life.
